Three Ilonggo-speaking men, armed with an Uzi machine gun and two .38 caliber revolvers held up the Express Stop convenience store located at the Capernaum Building at Lacson Street , in Bacolod City at about 3:30 a.m. yesterday.
Police Officer 2 Christopher Sarinopia, investigator on the case, said the suspects entered the establishment, pretended to be customers, and purchased bottles of beer, deodorant and biscuits before declaring a hold-up.
Investigation showed that one of the hold-uppers rushed to the cashier of the convenient store, Analyn Climaco, 33, of Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod, and ransacked the drawer, taking P5,200 in cash and three cellular phones with about P2,500 load. His companions disarmed Security Guard Marlon Herbolario, 39, of Brgy. Banago, and took his .38 caliber revolver service firearm loaded with five live ammunitions.
Sarinopia said the suspects also took the cellular phones of four student nurses of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital , who were buying goods at the store, and escaped on foot five minutes after the robbery.
“The store has a CCTV Camera but it malfunctioned and failed to capture the incident,” Sarinopia said.
Based on the description given by the staff, one of the suspects stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall, has a balding head, masculine in build, and was wearing a black jacket while the other two are both 5 feet and 4 inches tall and were slim.
City Police's Investigation and Detective Management Section/Crime Against Property Desk is still trying to establish the suspects' link with other robberies of establishments in Bacolod because their mode of operation is similar and their description also the same.
Seven hours after the holdup incident at the Express Stop convenience store, a lone male suspect held up a jeepney passenger in broad daylight.
Karl Alain Arante, 21, of Purok Magsaysay, Brgy. 14, Bacolod told the police that he was on board a Mandalagan-Libertad jeep when the suspect held him up on knife point when they reached North Capitol Road .
Arante said the suspect alighted from their jeep bringing with him his cellular phone valued at P8,000, watch valued at P150 and wallet with P8,000 in cash and bag containing his notebook, school identification card and packed lunch.*APN
