MV Doulos is a novel idea as a floating library. It carries wholesome volumes – from children’s books to the sciences, home, arts, history, spiritual and inspirational ones. The prices are very affordable. The staff members of the ship are very warm and accommodating.

MV Doulos is a treasure trove, it is one great experience going on board even if one just browses around. It is also known for its ministry to the people, especially in spreading the Good News about Christianity. It is an effective way of reaching people with its staff sharing their knowledge of the Gospel of God, love and peace. I’ll find time when it returns to the city.

Vice-President for Administration, USLS

MV Doulos and its mission of providing alternative avenues with the variety of its reading resources is always a welcome experience. It is what people look forward to. Bacolod Cit y and Negros Occidental are fortunate to have been identified as a destination of the ship and what is  significant about this kind of ministry is the availability of resources which cater to varied interests of  the people.

It’s a good thing MV Doulos came back to Bacolod because I missed it in 2006. It’s a book lover’s paradise with its thousands of books on various subjects! Everyone should take time out to experience the biggest international book fair, aboard a historic ship manned by volunteers of different nationalities, especially as it is going to be retired in two years time. I suggest parents should come with their kids. This is a good venue to inculcate love of reading to your children.

The revisit of the ship in the local port is very significant. It only shows how we, in Negros, particularly in Bacolod, would warmly accept visitors. The ship’s visit is very timely as we badly need inspiration in facing problems on the economy and politics. Kudos to Doulos!

The ship has reached out to almost all places on earth. It is a high time once more for local folks to read books that is of socio-civic relevance. The German-owned ship is more than a book shop; it is a carrier of knowledge and hope to places which need them, Bacolod City included.

Welcome again to the world’s biggest floating library. The Doulos’ second visit is a testimony of its service to the people. Again, we are reminded that money, getting paid or earning a profit isn’t important as long as one has a servant’s heart. Take Doulous, which is Greek term for ‘service’,  as example. It has around 5,000 books on hold and it is a manifestation that knowledge is very vital to our existence and yes, the citizens of the world have shared experiences - visiting Doulos is one.

MV Doulos is connecting the world. It shares a lot of stories from different places around the globe. It’s good to think that despite the worsening economy, there are still organizations like Doulos which remain optimistic and passionate that, after all, affordable education and knowledge is the solution to all these…you knows what.”

I’m very happy and excited that MV Doulos will once again dock in Bacolod. I had good memories of my first visit two years ago with my family.  It was a dream come true since my mom would tell us stories of this giant ship selling wonderful quality books such as Children’s Bibles at very good rates, when I was much younger.  There’s a great selection of books of various subjects and interests for everyone to choose from.  The delicious soft ice cream and giant chocolate chip cookies being sold on board were also unforgettable.  We at SM City Bacolod are also very happy to be a partner and are looking forward to the Kiddie Weekend event — featuring their multi-talented international crew — will be having at the SM Event Centre on Feb.22 Sunday at 4p.m.

We were excited to see a bookstore in a ship. We saw lots of activity books and other stuff, like pencils, ball pens and educational toys. We  loved it because there were lots of stuffs to enjoy and play with. It was a windy and cold day when we went there and we would love to go back again.
