The countdown to the Golden Jubilee of Colegio San Agustin – Bacolod in 2012 started this school year during the Aug. 26-29   Feast of Saint Augustine.

Fr. Frederick Comendador, CSA-B president, in his message during the alumni homecoming program,  set the tone for the golden anniversary celebration  of the college in 2012  when he emphasized that gratitude is the operational word for the jubilee.

Thanksgiving  and best wishes, he said,  are due the people  who had made San Agustin what it has achieved today.

We express our thanks and best wishes to  founding fathers, teachers,    personnel and friends who had selflessly devoted their time, knowledge , skills and resources for the enlistment of poor but academically gifted and talented students who are now gainfully employed and had found their niche in the community, he said.

The annual St. Augustine festivities, which focused on the theme, “That They  May be One”,  started on Aug. 26 with a Unity Dance by the student representatives from the five departments – Basic Education, Nursing, Engineering, College of Arts, Sciences and Education and the College of Accountancy, Business Education and Computer Studies.

The Kanlaon Theater Guild mounted a trilogy of plays by Severino Montano, Rolando Tinio and Wilfredo Ma. Guerrero. Films by Lino Brocka, Ishmael Bernal and Eddie Romero were likewise shown. An exhibit on the life and works of the National Artists complimented the multi-media program.
