A labor organization in Negros Occidental yesterday called onother groups  with representatives in Congress to push for the amendment ofRepublic Act 6727, or the Wage Rationalization Act to give workers the chance to appeal for a rational pay increase.

RA 6727 created the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards that will balance the fixing of minimum wages with the workers jobs andpromote productivity and gain toworkers andemployers as well, Alan Gozon, chairman of the Democratic Association of Labor Organization-Negros said at a press conference yesterday in  Bacolod City.

The Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center in Bacolod City was lauded by newly-appointed Technical Educational and Skills Development Authority Negros Occidental Provincial Director Rolando Juanillo recently, a government press release said.

Juanillo said that NOLITC is one of the many schools with first class training facilities comparable to call center companies, the press release said.

TESDA Regional Director Florencio Sonico, Jr. also visited the center together with former TESDA Provincial Director Yolanda Porschwitz.

SMIC declares
cash dividends

SM Investments Corporation, the holding company of retail tycoon Henry Sy, announced the distribution of cash dividends for its stockholders payable on June 22.

“SM’s cash dividend declaration comes with our sincere gratitude to all our shareholders. Their support and confidence in our company enabled us to deliver better-than-expected results in 2010. We look forward to their continued patronage in the years to come,” SM president Harley Sy said.

This represents 30 percent of SM’s full-year 2010 net income of P18.4 billion, the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange.
