Team 7 takes lead
in BTTHS cagefest
A 30-8 first quarter spurt was all Team 7 needed to silence erstwhile tournament leader Team 3 as it coasted to a convincing 88-67 triumph in the recent match-up of the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Alumni Basketball League at the Po Hang gym.
The win came on the heels of its 88-74 conquest of Team 6 last week which catapulted Team 7 to top of the team standings with five wins and one loss.
Joseph Don Hugo scattered 12 points and Brian Tan added eight points to jumpstart Team 7’s offense, leading to a 45-29 cushion at the break.
| SJI ALUMNI BASKETBALL Terra Dolce pulled away in the fourth quarter to register an 83-72 victory over Orix 2001-2002, while Shakey’s 2009-2011 held off the Legends 1989 & earlier with an 82-77 final score in the St. John’s Institute Alumni Basketball Friendship Cup at the Msgr. John B. Liu Activities Center. Orix kept up with Terra Dolce for the first three quarters and even took the lead at 54-53 going to the fourth quarter. But Orix succumbed to the offensive juggernaut by Peewee Demonteverde and Bol Manaloto scoring 15 and 10 points, respectively in the payoff quarter. |
