Bacolod Regional Trial Court Judge Pepito Gellada yesterday sentenced a Negrense to life imprisonmentfor the sale of shabu.

Gellada foundVictor Villarna Delmoguilty beyond reasonable doubtfor violation ofSection 5 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous DrugsActof 2002, for the sale of 3.76 grams of shabu to a police officer in May 2003.

He was apprehended in a police buy-bust operationin Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City.

Delmo received P3,800 from poseur-buyer, PO2 Allen Hulleza, in exchange for the shabu, the court was told.

The accused did not present any proof that the policemen had ill-motiveto file such a serious charge as selling dangerous drugs against him, the judge said.

“Delmo failedto muster the evidencethat would establish his innocence,” he added.

The court fined Delmo P500,000 and orderedhis transfer to the national penitentiary.*CPG
