Banks urged to maximize
currency use, circulation

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas is urging banks to help ensure that all bank notes and coins are properly circulated and those that are unfit are removed from the system, a government press release said.

BSP Deputy Governor Nestor Espenilla Jr., in a circular, said that banks are obliged to accept unfit Philippine currency notes and coins from the depositing public and observe the expeditious withdrawal thereof from circulation.

Banks must also implement the Clean Note Policy and arrange direct exchange of their accumulated excess fit currency notes/coins with other banks to optimize circulation of said notes/coins.

More than 3,000 farm animals were given free vitamins, antibiotics, and dewormer shots in the veterinary mission conducted by the Provincial Veterinary Office in the towns of La Castellana and Candoni recently.

Dr. Merie Ann Adlaon, mission coordinator said yesterday that fFarm animals like carabaos, cattle, goats, swine fattening, and poultry were examined and provided free check-ups, treatment, castration, and laboratory diagnosis.

She said the PVO continues to provide veterinary extension services, technical information, drugs, and biologics on animal health management to secure the livestock and poultry industry in the province.
