Businessman killed at
mall's parking lot

A businessman was shot and killed by a lone gunman while he was in his car at the parking lot of the Gaisano City Supermall in Bacolod City at 6 last night.

Killed was Joseph Villalobos, 52, of Doña Juliana Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, Special Operations Group head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, said.

Villalobos who had two gunshot wounds on his chest and a through and through wound on his left arm was rushed to the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. moremoremore

An alleged notorious robber and snatcher was killed by his foes at about 4 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. 2 Bacolod City.

The victim was identified as Joel Arnaiz, alias “Sidewalk”, 18, of Purok Lubi in Brgy. 3, Bacolod by Station 2 chief, Senior Insp. Lester Leada.

Arnaiz who sustained gunshot wounds on his chest and back was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.moremoremore

The Negros Occidental mayors and vice mayors' leagues, and business groups yesterday joined the campaign to raise assistance for the victims of Tropical Storm Sendong that has left 1,000 dead, scores missing, and thousands more homeless.

President Aquino, who visited the storm-hit cities of Iligan, Cagayan de Oro and Dumaguete, yesterday also promised assistance and declared a national state of calamity.

The death toll reached 1,000 in Visayas and Mindanao yesterday afternoon, and is expected to exceed this mark as search and retrieval operations continue, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council executive director Benito Ramos said.moremoremore
