P1.7B budget for 2012

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Negros Occidental yesterday approved the proposed budget of the provincial government for 2012 of P1,777,389,136 that is less by P2 million, compared to this year.

Board Member Salvador Escalante Jr., chairperson of the SP committee on Finance, said that, at their regular session in Sagay City yesterday, also approved was the proposed 2012 annual budget of the province's Economic Enterprise Development Department of P623,699,653.

While there is a P2 million reduction in the budget of Negros Occidental for next year, the EEDD budget rose by P48,138,646, SP records showed.moremoremore

The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan yesterday allocated P1.5 million as assistance of the provincial government to the typhoon hit areas of Negros Oriental, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City, Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez said.

Each area will be given P500,000 each to be delivered next week, Board Member Salvador Escalante, SP Finance Committee chairman, said.

This is on top of donations being made by the private sector in Negros Occidental, he said.moremoremore

2 motives eyed in slay of bizman

Two motives are being eyed by the Bacolod City Police for the fatal shooting of a businessman at the parking lot of Gaisano City mall at Araneta Street Tuesday night.

City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said one of the angles they are looking into is that the killing of J oseph Villalobos, 52, of Doña Juliana Subdivision in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, might have been triggered by a personal grudge.

De la Paz said another angle is that the killing might have something to do with his business.moremoremore
