Marañon suspends councilor

Negros Occidental  Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. has  preventively suspended a Candoni councilor pending investigation of a complaint lodged against him by Mayor Jechonias Manzano for alleged grave misconduct, dishonesty and conduct unbecoming a public official.

Preventively suspended by the governor for 60 days is Councilor Aldrin Diego, a copy of the governor’s order furnished  the  DAILY STAR  Saturday by Jovim Entila,  counsel fort Manzano, showed.

The Negros Occidental Sangguniang Panlalawigan  had recommended the suspension  of Diego  “as there is a showing of a great probability  that his continuance in office  could influence the witnesses or pose a threat to the safety  and integrity of records and other evidence.”moremoremore

Orders hospital rebidding

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. last night said he has ordered the rebidding of the expansion work at the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Marañon said he ordered the rebidding of the work that was won by Dynamic Builders because of a procedural error in the publication of the bidding at the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System website.

He said others who wish to join the new bidding are welcome to do so.moremoremore

Mayor to undergo
kidney transplant

Municipal officials of San Enrique, Negros Occidental, yesterday called for prayers for the speedy recovery of Mayor Mario Magno, who is scheduled for a kidney transplant, next week.

Vice Mayor Abner Jardinico said Magno is now confined at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City, in preparation for the transplant operation at the National Kidney Institute in Metro Manila.

Magno, who was elected mayor of San Enrique last year, is now undergoing dialyses at the Bacolod hospital.moremoremore
