Mutineers
vindicated, judge says

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Judge Rederick Maxino of the Regional Trial Court Branch 32 said the Oakwood mutineers’ cry for reforms in the Armed Forces of the Philippines may have been vindicated with how things are going on in the military establishment, following the revelations of corruption within the system.

They have been perceived to have taken an uprising against the government because their claim of corruption then was not given importance.

Maxino said  events taking place, including the apparent suicide of former National Defense Secretary Angelo Reyes, will vindicate all those involved in the mutiny, including cases against generals Danny Lim and Ariel Querubin, and the rest of the mutineers.

He, however, stressed corruption should not only deal with the officers at the top, but likewise at the bottom.

The RTC judge said he is saddened by Reyes’ apparent suicide as he served the country in many positions, but whose integrity is in question due to his alleged involvement in corruption in the military.

He stressed that parents should instill in the minds of their children that only good values can stop corruption in government.*JG
