see Azkals’ play

All roads lead to Panaad Park and Sports Stadium tonight as the Philippine Azkals finally face Team Mongolia for the first leg of their playoff match in the AFC Challenge Cup.

For every goal the national team will make, fireworks will light up the sky, assuring the Azkals of the full support from the home crowd.

Government officials, among them Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, will be among the audience who will occupy the reserved seats at the grandstand, while the rest of the Negrense crowd are expected to pack the bleachers surrounding the stadium.

Manila Beer
beats Choi in TKP

Holding a 65-61 advantage in the third quarter, Manila Beer relied on the  trio of John Berio, Johnson Salazar and Jason Melarin to beat Choi Sportswear to register its third straight victory in the the 11th Tan Kek Pin Memorial Basketball Tournament at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Salazar finished with 18 points while Berio had 17 and Melarin and Joemil Garrido scored 11 points each for the winning squad.

In another game, University of St. La Salle dealt Pag-IBIG fund another loss, 80-71, despite Rodel Canino’s tournament high of 37 points for the losing team.

BGCC rules
golf team event

Host Bacolod Golf and Country Club Ladies Team emerged as champion in the team competition, as Sonnie Montelibano of the winning club ruled the senior’s category in 48th Southern Ladies Golf Tournament at the BGCC course in Binitin, Murcia, Negros Occidental.

Considered one of the most prestigious golf spectacles in the country, the event was joined by the top names in women golf circuit including members of the Philippine Ladies squad.

The BGCC champion team composed of Cara Golez, Grace Bañas, Sonnie Montelibano and Jane Park collected a total of 242 points to bring home the crown of the three-day tilt.
