Nation praying
for them: Migz

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Senator Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri yesterday said he wishes the Philippine Azkals the best of luck today, “the nation is praying for them.”

Zubiri is watching the Philippine Azkals’ Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup match against the Mongolian national team at the Panaad Sports Stadium this evening.

“I am excited to see our team in action on Philippine soil. I hope this will be one of many international football games played in our country, and that it sparks a movement for professional football leagues to thrive in the country, like the PBA league,” Zubiri told the DAILY STAR.

Other senators who reportedly are arriving for the game are Loren Legarda, Ramon “Bong” Revilla and Teofisto Guingona III.

Reports yesterday that presidential sister Ballsy Aquino Cruz is arriving today for the football match have been denied, she is not coming.

Meanwhile, Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday said of the 10,000 free tickets to be distributed by the Philippine Football Federation for today’s game, 3,000 were allocated for his distribution to the towns and cities of the province.

He said the remaining 7,000 were to be distributed by the PFF but it is not known how many remain for release to Negrenses 3 hours before the game at the Panaad today.

Some of the free tickets have already been distributed for football fans from Panay and Negros Oriental.*CPG
