Chief Supt. Cipriano Querol, Western Visayas Police Director, yesterday commended acting Bacolod Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo De la Paz for implementing the initiatives of the Police Regional Office 6 against criminality in Bacolod City.
“In our service, we would like to see a lot of improvement,” he said.
Querol, who attended the conference on “Target Hardening Efforts” at the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday, said he saw that there is an improvement in the peace and order in Bacolod, especially in street crimes, when De la Paz was installed officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City Police Office early this month.
“In fact, all our initiatives in the Police Regional Headquarters is now being implemented here,” he said. First is our Police Integrated Patrol System and the organization of the Barangay Action Peace-Keeping Team, he added.
Querol said he was briefed that all the barangays in Bacolod already have peace-keeping teams and the police have taken action against illegal gambling and illegal drugs.
Asked if he is endorsing the retention of De la Paz to Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Querol said personally, he would like to do so but the final say is on the local chief executive of Bacolod.
Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson, who represented Leonardia at the conference, said he is relaying to the mayor Querol’s endorsement of De la Paz. He said the mayor thank Querol for the additional policemen he has deployed to Bacolod.
Asked for his reaction, De la Paz said that as a professional police officer, he will follow whatever orders given by his superior.
“So if I am given an opportunity, I am committing to serve the people of Bacolod and hope that we will be partners in attaining our objective for a peaceful and stable city,” he said.
Meanwhile, Querol said he has instructed the Regional Special Operations Group in Bacolod to assist the BCPO in its campaign against criminalities and vices.*CGS
