| Cop injured in rumble
at Azkals’ victory party
A policeman was injured when he tried to pacify a commotion between warring groups while a party for the Philippine Azkals at Lacson Street, Bacolod City was ongoing at about 11:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Injured was Senior Police Officer 2 Rovir Montaňez, assigned as team leader of Police Station 2, station commander Chief Insp. Noel Polines said yesterday.
Polines said Montaňez was detailed as marshal for the football players to assist them outside the hotel to meet with fans. Montaňez was near the stage when suddenly a rumble occurred between two warring groups after they were allowed to get inside the party venue, Polines added.
Montaňez arrested one of those involved in the rumble, whose companion however, hit Montaňez on the head with beer bottle, Polines said.

Those arrested were Joselito Salimot, 20, Dondon Murillo, 18, Mike Lester Melgalrojo, 21, and their 17-year-old companion, whose name the police withheld. They are now detained at Police Station 2.
None of them have admitted to have hit Montaňez but Polines said they will be charged for alarms and scandal, physical injuries and resisting arrest as ordered by Bacolod City Police Officer in charge, Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz.*APN

Deo also sustained injuries on his left brow when he attempted to resist from the suspects, police records showed.
