Azkals to train in Baguio
BY NIDA BUENAFE

After a short break, the Philippine football team will be heading for Baguio to start their training in preparation for the second leg of the AFC Challenge Cup playoff match set March 15 in Mongolia.

The Azkals are expected to arrive in Mongolia on February 21.

Coach Hans Michael Weiss said the team needs to train in cooler climate to get used to the weather when they arrived in Mongolia next month.

Earlier, co-team captain Emelio “Chieffy” Caligdong, who scored the Azkals’ first goal in Wednesday’s game against Mongolia, said they might be wearing long-sleeved uniforms and undershirts during the game.

Caligdong’s outstanding performance was praised by Weiss, who said the Ilonggo player, like the rest of the team, showed patience and determination during the game.

In winning over the Mongolia Blue Wolves, the Azkals registered more than 30 attempts to score and converted to goals, while the Mongolia said had five attempts.*NAB
