Team Mongolia left
early for home

BY NIDA BUENAFE

The Mongolia Blue Wolves football team, who bowed to the Philippine Azkals, 2-0, in Wednesday nights’ game, left Negros Occidental early morning yesterday, aboard the 5 a.m. Philippine Airlines flight from Bacolod-Silay Airport to Manila.

While the victorious Azkals joined the post-game parties celebrating the win, the Blue Wolves opted to go back to Luxor Hotel to rest and pack their bags for their early morning flight out of Negros.

During the post-game interview with reporters who covered the first leg of the AFC Challenge Cup playoff match between the Blue Wolves and the Azkals at the Panaad stadium, Mongolia head coach Sandagdorj Erdenebat said the team had a difficult game and the players were very tired.

After a short break, the Philippine football team will be heading for Baguio to start their training in preparation for the second leg of the AFC Challenge Cup playoff match set March 15 in Mongolia.

The Azkals are expected to arrive in Mongolia on February 21.

Coach Hans Michael Weiss said the team needs to train in cooler climate to get used to the weather when they arrived in Mongolia next month.

Phil wants Angel as
Valentine date

After making a successful goal in a clash with Mongolia in the Asian Football Cup match last night, Azkals’ striker Phil Younghusband had invited ABS-CBN’s star Angel Locsin for a date on Valentine’s day.

In a tweet to Locsin, the younger Younghusband asked: Hi Angel! This Phil. How are you? I was just wondering if you are free for Valentines day? This after confirming over ABS-CBN’s Bandila last night that he doesn’t have a Valentine’s date and has been lonely.

The actress who congratulated the Azkals in her tweet last night for the successful game was tweeted by Phil from his Blackberry phone minutes before he flew out from Bacolod.
