NegOr PNP, Army to
coordinate efforts
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

PNP provincial director Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas and Col. Manuel Ochotorena, commander of the 302nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army, will be the key signatories of the plan creating the Joint Peace and Security Coordination Center, Saturday.

The JPSCC is a joint undertaking for the military and police’s coordination, convergence, integration and orchestration of efforts.

Gov. Roel Degamo, Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District), PNP Dir. Gen. Jaime Calungsod, Director of Integrated Police Operations-Visayas, mayors, members of the Councilors’ League and the Association of Barangay Councils will witness the activity.

Lawas said Negros Oriental will be the first province in Central Visayas to sign the JPSCC, although this had already been signed at the regional levels of Region 6 and Region 7.

The PNP Regional Office-7 signed the JPSCC implementation plan with the 8th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army in Tacloban, Leyte, while the PRO-6 signed it with the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, in Iloilo.

The JPSCC was first tested during the May 10 national elections and in the October 25 barangay elections and was claimed to be a successful joint undertaking.*JFP
