City Hall probes
food complaint

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

A business establishment engaged in the food service sector in Dumaguete City is now under investigation after a woman complained of having eaten bread that may have been contaminated by animal feces.

Cecille Aro Flores who filed a complaint Thursday with City Health Officer Dr. Ma. Sarah Talla claimed that she had eaten bread bought from the restaurant and found that it contained what looked like animal feces.

Talla facilitated the complaint of Flores, who also filed a similar complaint at the Bureau of Food and Drugs Administration and was told to submit the bread to laboratory examination.

A team from the City Health Office, the City Veterinarian, and the City Engineers went to the restaurant, name of which is being withheld pending investigation results, to determine if violations had been committed in food handling.

Flores, who claimed she had already ingested some of the contaminated bread, has consulted her doctor for pre-emptive treatment.

Flores said she hopes her case will spur city officials to conduct regular inspection of businesses engaged in the food service.*JFP
