resumes at Po Hang

The scramble for the top position in NOPSSCEA Aspirants basketball resumes today with the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos clashing against St. Joseph High School-La Salle at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

Should the UNO-R junior Rams prevail, they will be contesting the No. 1 seat in Bracket B against Tay Tung’s Blue Dragons. The two teams are scheduled to face each other tomorrow, 1 p.m.

In Bracket A, West Negros University junior Mustangs will face St. John’s Institute at 1 p.m. to dispute the leadership. Both dealt University of St. La Salle a heartbreaking loss in separate match-ups last week.

Football festival
in Talisay today

Football takes centerstage once again in Talisay City with the opening of the 1st Doc Eric 7-a-side Charter Day Football Festival today at the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College and Talisay City football pitches.

To see action in the two-day competition are teams from Iloilo, Negros Oriental, and host Negros Occidental, who will vie for top honors in girls’  under-14 and ladies open, boys’ under-15, under-13, and under-18, and men’s open.

An opening ceremony at the Talisay City Football field in Carmela Subdivision will usher the tournament at 7:30 a.m., followed by matches men’s open, girls’ under-14, and boys’ under-15.

Batch ’85 paces
NOHS bowlfest

Batch ’85 will try to keep its hold on the No. 1 spot, while Class ’73 threatens to wrestle the lead as bowling action in the 2011 Negros Occidental High School Inter-class Alumni Bowling Tournament resumes tonight at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.

Anchored by Iran Pielago, Batch ‘85 carries a four-round score of 7,389 pinfalls, while Class ’73 is within striking distance with 7,262 points.

At third spot is Class ’82 with 7,248 followed by Class ’70 with 7,210 balls.
