Electric coop initiates steps
vs. erroneous meter reading

The Negros Oriental Electric Cooperative 1 in Bindoy town, Negros Oriental, sought the help of the National Electrification Administration in training and evaluating NORECO 1 meter readers after complaints were aired over erroneous electric meter readings from its member-consumers.

NORECO general manager, Jose Juveleo Acabal, said that since July last year, the 38 meter readers of the cooperative have been undergoing periodic training and evaluation from NEA experts on meter reading accuracy.

Private contractors
need tax clearance

Private contractors who want to do business with the government are required to apply for tax clearance certificates under Revenue Regulations 3-2005, chief Jose Senador of the Revenue District 79 Office taxpayers division said.

The tax clearance certificate from the Bureau of Internal Revenue in Manila can be issued only to legitimate contractors who have complied with requirements, Senador said.

These include a letter request for an application form, certificate of registration from concerned agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry, Securities and Exchange Commission, and proof of electronic filing.
