This year’s 8th National Private Schools Athletics Association games were  reset to Zamboanga City on April 10 to 16, after clamors for reorganization in leadership snowballed several months before the first scheduled date on February 20 to 26 in Manila.

In the Visayas, Foundation University and other private colleges and universities in Negros Oriental started the campaign for a boycott.

A manifesto for reforms in the national PRISAA organization headed by its chairman Manny Angeles of Angeles University Foundation of Pampanga also circulated throughout the country.

Angeles called for an emergency meeting on February 5 in Cebu City and announced later the resetting of holding the national sports competition in private tertiary schools on April 20 to 26.

Several member schools in Central Visayas led by FU sent messages of boycott and will not send a single player in the sports competition if Angeles would not step down.

They called for an election for reorganization as Angeles installed himself as Chairman Emeritus and also installed his son to replace him.

In Western Visayas, Bacolod City’s University of St. La Salle and Iloilo’s University of San Agustin confirmed a boycott of the games after their recent meeting in Iloilo City.

Other school in Western Visayas can join the competition depending on decisions of their administrations.

After reviving the National PRISAA eight years ago, Angeles clung on the position without election. The group scored  Angeles for using PRISAA for his own interest.

Angeles enlisted PRISAA in the last election as one Party List with him as nominee and allegedly used PRISAA in soliciting huge funds from public and private sectors without proper liquidation or accounting.

This year, his request to Philippine Sports Commission was reportedly denied.*PNA
