Rerouting for
flyover work sought
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod City Administrator Roger Balo yesterday requested for the re-routing of traffic and the removal of traffic lights at the junction of Lacson and Carlos Hilado Highway (Circumferential Road) in Bacolod City so that the construction of the first flyover in the city, which is scheduled to start within this month, will not be delayed.

Councilor Dindo Ramos, Sangguniang Panlungsod chairman on Transportation and Traffic Management, will indorse to the SP Balo’s letter dated Feb. 15, 2011.

Earlier, Balo, said the Department of Public Works and Highways had already started preparatory work for the construction of the flyover at the junction of Lacson Street-Circumferential Road in Bangga Pepsi, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City.

He said the DPWH had started implementing road widening leading to the flyover site to make it six lanes.

The equipment and superstructure components of the flyover were delivered in November 2010, and are now at the BREDCO Port, he added.

Meanwhile, Balo said Mayor Evelio Leonardia has reservations about the proposed site for the second flyover at Magsaysay-Araneta streets because the junction of Burgos Street-Circumferential Road has heavier traffic.

He said they will probably ask the DPWH to conduct another traffic engineering study to see if it is possible to transfer the location of the other flyover and ask for the endorsement of the Regional Development Council.*CGS
