The two-day “Mayor Ramos Torres Cup” Invitational Open Trio Bowling Championship rolls off tomorrow at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City.
Ricardo Abellar Jr., of the organizing Bago City Bowlers Association, said the event is one of the activities line-up in celebration of the city’s 45th Charter Anniversary.
The highlights of the Charter Day will be on Saturday with the up-the-ladder finals of the bowling tournament, grand parade and float competition to start at 1 p.m. followed by the Babaylan street dance contest, arena performance, coronation of Diwata sang Bago and fireworks display, among others.
Guaranteed prize in the men’s division for bowling is P10,000 for the champion, plus trophy; first runner-up, P6,000 and P4,000 for the second runner-up, and a trophy.
Tournament record holders in highest pinning, individual highest single, team highest single and triple will also receive cash prizes.
Abellar said the use of personal balls is allowed, and the foul line will be strictly observed.
Invited to join the tournament are Kami Mga Hubin of Sonny Elegado, Negros Professional Bowlers Club/NPBC/LJP Trading/RJ Stars of Gil Villagante and Steve Po, William Sy and Nonoy Ruiz’ Easyweld NPBC, Active Solid Strikers Fellowship Bowlers, Inc. of Edgar Allan del Rosario and Cecil Silverio, Davies of Edgar Jerez, Sharp Phils., BACBA, Panasonic.ON-BACIBA, Condura, Tiger Eye, Davies Fusion, Kami Mga Gwapa, Manila Bulletin, NSL, and K of C Candles/Alimon Steel.
There will also be competition in the women’s department.
Prizes at stake if there are six teams participating (exclusive of alley fees) are champion, P5,000; first runner-up, P3,000 and second runner-up, P1,800.
Registration of prospective teams will open at 5 p.m., while tournament proper will start at 6 p.m.*HLG
