Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. has filed House Bill No. 4203 or an “Act making the position of barangay secretary as permanent and as such entitled to security of tenure, benefits and for other purpose.”

The Bill provides that the position of barangay secretary in all barangay units be made permanent and they will enjoy security of tenure and cannot be removed, unless for cause.

All barangay secretaries will likewise enjoy the benefits appurtenant to being permanent government employees, subject to the applicable and existing Civil Service Laws, it said.

Golez said he supports all barangays in Bacolod City in their endeavors, especially in the aim of rendering quality public service. “I believe that for our city to achieve its goals, efficiency and dedication to work must be emphasized,” he said.

The proposed bill, if passed into law, will ensure efficiency in the delivery of public service at the barangay level, Golez said.*CGS
