SeaOil-NBTC Elite League
Bacolod City leg launched
National Basketball Training Center program director Eric Altamirano met with SeaOil-Visayas representatives and local coaches yesterday to formalize the launching of the SeaOil-NBTC Elite League in Bacolod City on March 13.
Altamirano disclosed that since NBTC started in 2007 as a center for the nationwide grassroots program in basketball, it was able to produce players that represented the country’s National Youth Team in the last three years.
“We started with three cities in 2007 – Cebu, Manila and Davao but vaulted to 106 teams form 33 cities the following year then to 2,500 last year,” Altamirano said. “And we expect that these numbers will be doubled this year,” he added.
| ESD, Tiger Eye pocket top prize ESD Electronz/ASSFBI and Tiger Eye/NPBC pocketed the top prize and the crown of the two-day Mayor Ramon Torres Cup Open Trio Bowling Tournament hosted by the Bago City Bowlers Association at the Super Lanes of the Goldenfields Commercial Complex in Bacolod City. In bringing home the title, the champion squad represented by Boy Tisoy Villanueva, Steve Ramos, Wilson Casas, Pat Mendoza and Edgar del Rosario overpowered the Easyweld NPBC team of William Sy composed of Nonoy Ruiz, Mandoy Hervias, Maeng Solis and Nonong Ruiz in the final showdown, 359-322. Villanueva carried the scoring cudgels for the Electronz with 129 pinfalls, while Ramos and Casas contributed 118 and 112 apiece. |
