Gaining back democracy and freedom was the essence of the February 25 People Power celebration but the Filipino nation should continue to walk and look for its promised land instead of thinking that God will provide everything, Government Service Insurance Corp. chairman and former Negros Occidental governor Daniel Lacson Jr. said yesterday.

Lacson, one of those who were at EDSA People Power 25 years ago, joined the Inter-faith Prayer last night organized by various organizations in the province in front of the Ninoy Aquino Monument in front of the old Bacolod Airport.

He said the EDSA  people power revolt  did not start on February 22, 1986 but on the day Ninoy Aquino was shot.moremoremore

Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez yesterday assured that his office will helpBacolod City residents affected by the ongoing hostilities in Libya and Bahrain.

A resolution requesting the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Philippine embassies in these Middle East countries for assistance to be extended to overseas Filipino workers was also passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod Wednesday.

Golez called on residents of Bacolod, who have relatives in Libya and Bahrain, to send him their names and their last known address, so he can forward them to the DFA so their families will know their status.moremoremore

Former NPA leader
found dead in Ilog

A former commander of the New People’s Army in southern Negros was found dead Thursday at his farm in Ilog , Negros Occidental.

The body identified as that of Rudy Tilad, alias Jonathan Diaz, was wrapped in a “malong” cloth and placed ins a sack, when it was recovered by a police team led by Inspector Louie Figueroa in Brgy. Pinggot, Ilog.

Ilog police investigations showed that the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, and also bore stab wounds.moremoremore
