For the first time, the one-stop-shop in processing business permits will be held at the Bacolod City Government Center, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia said yesterday.
“After all, this is one of the reasons why we have the government center. We want to make it a one-stop-shop,” he said.
Leonardia said it was during his first term as mayor when they implemented the one-stop-shop policy at the BAYS Center. The essence is to make it convenient for businesses to have their licenses processed and released as early as possible, he said.
Its implementation is being subjected to continuing studies, Leonardia added.
He also said that while the one-stop-shop had evolved from the BAYS Center to Shoe Mart, they want it now in the government center so they can test how workable it will be there.
This has been evaluated by the business sector, and had undergone scrutiny by authorities like the Asian Institute of Management, Information and Communication Technology, he said.
Leonardia said Bacolod had been recognized among those on the top of the list of the 10 next wave cities in the area of business environment.
While this may not be perfect yet Bacolod is much ahead of many others, and this is one of the factors that won for it the title of “Most business-friendly cities in the Philippines,” he said.
Definitely, the Business Permits Processing is one of the criteria being taken into consideration, Leonardia said.
In the latest report of the Asian Institute of Management, Bacolod, was rated high, together with Iloilo as far as the responsiveness of the local government to business is concerned, he said.
This is something that the city would like really to implement and it has made many changes, he added.
Leonardia said the city is making sure it maintains its image as business friendly and it would also like to make sure it makes business grow in Bacolod because this is one of the key factors for its o continuous development and progress.*CGS
