Lagdameo lauds Perdices
as thousands join funeral

Thousands of Dumagueteños and Negrenses turned out yesterday at the requiem mass for the late Gov Agustin Perdices officiated by Jaro, Iloilo City Archbishop Angel Lagdameo, who was bishop of the diocese of Dumaguete when Perdices was mayor of the city.
The funeral mass started at exactly 2 p.m., at the Dumaguete Cathedral that was jampacked by more than 5,000, aside from those who stayed outside the church and at the Quezon Park .
In his homily, Lagdameo paid tribute to the man he said had left a number of legacies for his predecessors to emulate.

Agustin Perdices. Leonardia authored General Assembly Resolution No. 2011-01 of the League of the Cities of the Philippines, expressing the deep sympathy of the LCP, and its heartfelt condolences to the family of the late governor, who was also former Dumaguete City Mayor, who died of stomach cancer at St. Luke’s Hospital at 76. |
| Brothers molest minor; Two rape incidents were recorded in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, in less than a week. Sibulan police records show that the first rape incident involved a 17-year-old girl and two brothers, who allegedly took turns in molesting her during a public dance at Sitio Ata-ata, Barangay San Antonio, Sibulan last week. Initial police investigations showed that one of the suspects, a certain Alejandro, 23, single, of Calabnugan, Sibulan is a boyfriend of the victim. Reports said that after having sexual intercourse with her, the suspect called his older brother, Joemar, 33, married, to take over. |
