Dauin policemen
undergo retraining

BY MARICAR ARANAS

Thirty-four personnel from the Dauin police station in Negros Oriental had a seven-day retraining program as directed by the Philippine National Police.

Regional Director for Administration Senior Supt. Samuel Yordan yesterday said the Dauin PNP is the first police station in Central Visayas to undergo the retraining program. He said the Dauin police stations availed of the retraining program conducted by instructors from the PNP Regional headquarters.

He said the training module includes the four basic roles of the PNP which includes investigation, traffic, patrols and intelligence. It also consists of a seminar on proper behavior of police personnel, like good manners and right conduct.

Yordan said he hopes other police stations will also conduct the retraining program after the Dauin PNP.

Negros Oriental police provincial director, Senior Supt. Rey Lyndon Lawas, said they have been planning to conduct refresher training to all PNP police stations in the province. It is part of his target plan when he assumed office, he added.

The retraining of all PNP personnel was implemented following the series of controversies and scandals that have dragged the name of the entire organization.

Lawas said it was Dauin that showed interest in the retraining, as requested by Mayor Neil Credo.

He said he is thankful for the support of the local government unit in the training.

Credo also said they need their police personnel to be more alert and equipped with knowledge on environmental laws and in handling crisis situation.  He said Dauin is a tourist destination where peace and order is a priority.*MA
