Dauin policemen
undergo retraining

Thirty-four personnel from the Dauin police station in Negros Oriental had a seven-day retraining program as directed by the Philippine National Police.

Regional Director for Administration Senior Supt. Samuel Yordan yesterday said the Dauin PNP is the first police station in Central Visayas to undergo the retraining program. He said the Dauin police stations availed of the retraining program conducted by instructors from the PNP Regional headquarters.

He said the training module includes the four basic roles of the PNP which includes investigation, traffic, patrols and intelligence. It also consists of a seminar on proper behavior of police personnel, like good manners and right conduct.

Bayawan, Dumaguete contingents
to join Sinulog de Cebu tomorrow

Two champion festival contingents in Negros Oriental will participate in the 2011 Sinulog de Cebu in Cebu tomorrow.

Bayawan City is fielding its Tawo-Tawo Festival to the Sinulog competitions, while Dumaguete City is entering its current Sandurot Festival champion, Senior Tourism Operations Officer Myla Mae Abellana said yesterday.

Mayor Manuel Sagarbarria and Mayor Rene Gaudiel will head the delegations from Dumaguete and Bayawan cities, respectively, with other local officials present to boost the morale of participants.

mark autism week

The Autism Society Philippines Dumaguete Chapter and GPRehab will celebrate National Autism Consciousness Week, declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 711 on January 16 to 22. 

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Autismo Paghandaan: Maagap na Deteksyon at Interbensyon Isakatuparan” which focuses on the importance of early intervention in order to address the concerns of children with autism, and, in this way, give them the opportunity to become independent and productive in the community.
