5 persons nabbed in
Brgy. 2 ‘seal-off’ drive

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Five persons, one a minor, were apprehended by the Bacolod City Police Office Anti-Illegal Task Force yesterday and Thursday as the “seal-off operation” in Brgy. 2 continues.

Arrested were Jocelyn Cawaling, 43, of Purok Sigay and Melchor Cahilig, 24, of Purok Cagaycay in Brgy, 2, Allan Edward Tiano, 25 of Reagent Pearl Homes in Brgy, Alijis, Reggie Cadiz, 22, of Rio Vista in Brgy, Taculing and his 16-year-old neighbor, whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR.

Police Officer 1 Mark Anthony Motin, one of the apprehending operatives, said Cawaling was arrested at about 4:45 p.m. Thursday near her residence. They recovered a plastic sachet of suspected shabu and a piece of aluminum foil.

Motin and his companions, Police Officers 1, Leo Pamones, Lanie Deriada, Shun Alvarez, Richard Canja, Joemel Mialen, April Palabrica, Michael Salapa and Angelo Olvido, also arrested Tiano, Cadiz and his minor neighbor, also in Brgy. 2 at about 11:45 a.m. yesterday. A plastic sachet of suspected shabu was recovered from him.

Several minutes later, Cahilig was also apprehended by Motin and his companions who recovered an improvised tooter from him, police records showed.

The Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force team leader, Chief Insp. Alexander Ermeo, said they are set to “seal off” Brgy. 1 anytime this week but their problem is that they do not have enough policemen.

He said 30 policemen from the Public Safety Management Battalion have been assigned in Brgy. 2, while 20 policemen were designated in Brgy. 22.

Ermeo, Station 2 commander and Task Force Anti-Drugs Assistant team leader Chief Insp. Noel Polines, Station 1 commander Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche and City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group team leader Senior Insp. Joemarie Occeño met yesterday to thresh out their responsibilities.

Ermeo said the obligation of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force is to arrest those caught with illegal drugs in plain view while the CAIDSTOG will led anti-illegal drugs buy-bust and stake-out operations.*APN
