DoE looking at Visayas
for more power sources

The Department of Energy is preparing to meet energy requirements nationwide through close coordination and monitoring of the whole electric power industry as it looks at the Visayan for more power sources, a government press release said.

The DOE said it has adopted three methods to avert any problem in power supply.

This plan addresses data showing that Luzon and Mindanao will have critical power situations during the summer months, the press release said.

DA vows
measures vs. La Niña

Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Regional Operations Joel Rudinas has assured the public that the DA has implemented mitigating measures against the impact of the La Niña weather phenomenon on the agricultural sector, a government press release said

This is to ensure that grain and food production programs remain on track this year, the press release said.

Rudinas, is concurrently the chairman of the El Niño/La Niña Presidential Task Force.

‘OFW remittances to
boost spending’

The National Economic and Development Authority said the rising food, fuel and transportation services are unlikely to dampen consumer spending supporting economic growth this year, government press release said.

"We hope the price increases will not be that sharp... and we still see the main source of consumption continuing. This will be the remittances," Socioeconomic Planning Cayetano Paderanga said.

PCE contributes about 70 percent to 80 percent to gross domestic product, which is the value of all final goods and services produced in a country.
