Abduction of nurse foiled
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A female nurse of the Doctor’s Hospital foiled an attempt to abduct her at B.S. Aquino Drive in Bacolod City yesterday.

The complainant, aged 21, of Menlo Village in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, and whose name is being withheld by the DAILY STAR immediately sought the help of Police Station 4.

The nurse told the police that she had just ended from her duty and was waiting for a jeepney for Talisay City in front of a gasoline station, when the incident happened, desk officer Police Officer 1 Gilbert Alunan said.

She said the man suddenly grabbed her hand, covered her mouth with his hand and forced her into a red van with no plate number that was parked near the gasoline station.

The complainant added that she fought back with the man who was forced to leave when she fell to the pavement.

Alunan said the abductor sped away the van going west of B.S. Aquino Drive. The complainant, however, could not describe the suspect because the incident happened too fast.

Three hooded men also attempted to abduct a female call center agent on November 23 last year while she was walking at Lacson-Roxas, and forced her into a black car. The abduction, however, was also foiled when the security guard of a nearby gasoline station intervened, police records showed.

Station 4 chief, Senior Insp. Leilani Garcia said they had flashed the description of the van used by the abductor to all police stations in Bacolod so it can be intercepted.

Garcia said she believes that the incident could be one of “tripping” and warned the public to be extra cautious.*APN
