A department store bagger died at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital yesterday morning after his throat was slashed by a stevedore in a bar at Libertad Street, Bacolod City.
Killed was Felimon Montero, 21, of Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Police Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo, said.
Aside from a slashed throat, Montero also sustained a stab wound on the left side of his body, Gentoleo said.
He said that suspect Julio Ibañez, 44, of Ilog town, Negros Occidental, was arrested in a follow-up operation by Station 6 policemen led by Police Officer 2 Raphael Palacios while his son, Ervin Ibañez, 19, evaded arrest.
A 14-inch butcher’s knife was recovered from Julio during his arrest.
Montero’s companions Danilo Clapiz, 20, of Brgy. Calumangan in Bago City, and Rudylyn Sanson, 19, of Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, who were also stabbed by the suspects, are now confined at the CLMMRH, Gentoleo said.
Sanson sustained two stab wounds on her abdomen, while Clapiz had a lone stab wound on the right side of his body.
Ervin got angry when one of the victims, who allegedly had too much to drink vomited near him and his father, at King’s refreshment at about 3:15 a.m. yesterday, witnesses told the police.
Julio, who is now detained at Police Station 6, admitted to the killing of Montero and stabbing his companions, Gentoleo told the DAILY STAR.
He also disclosed that Police Officer 3 Jose Roy Militante’s investigation showed that Julio was released on probation from the Mindoro penal colony six months ago after he was jailed for homicide.
Gentoleo also reported the arrest of Jaime, 22, and Estong Acosta, 27, at their residence in Purok Sunrise, Brgy. Taculing, on Wednesday.
He said the Acosta brothers had arrest warrants for frustrated homicide issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 49 Judge Franklin Demonteverde, who set their bail at P24,000.*APN
