Bacolod teams in top three
of Iloilo bowling tournament

Davies-Bacolod Team and ESD Electronz/ASSFBI placed second and third runners-up in the 9th Dinagyang Invitational Visayas Alliance of Duckpin Bowlers Association Open Trio Bowling Tournament dubbed “Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog Cup” held at St. Elizabeth Bowling and Billiard Alleys in Valeria Street, Iloilo City.

Iloilo City Bowlers Association Survivors emerged as champion by defeating JN Bowlers – Roxas City in the final showdown.

Six players from Bacolod City also landed in the tournament’s top 20 bowlers of the two-day event. They were Ricky Ondovilla of  Sharp Team; Boy Tisoy Villanueva, ESD Electronz/ASSFBI; Wilson Casas, ESD Electronz; Hernand Garciniego, LJP/JFM/TT NPBC, Allan Baer, Brgy. 7 Hurricane/ASSFBI, and Ben Pison, JN.

Ondovilla was the topscorer with an averaged of 134.30 pinfalls per game.      

Davies composed of Edgar Jerez, Felipe Boy Romero, Munching Guinson and Joe Latoza placed second in the top four teams survivors, but vowed to seeded No.3 JN Bowlers – Roxas City of Nonoy Hoo in the up-the-ladder semi-final clash, 361-355.

Before their engagement with Jerez’ group, Hoo’s Team also overpowered the ASSFBI - Bacolod, represented by Steve Ramos, Wilson Casas and Boy Villanueva in the quarterfinals.

Twenty bowling squads participated in the two-day tournament.

Meanwhile, the NSL 5-Man Bowling Tournament will unfold Thursday at the Goldenfield Commercial Complex Super Lanes in Bacolod City.

Action will start at 5:30 p.m.

Bago City Bowlers Association organized Open Trio is also scheduled at the same venue on Feb.18 and 19.

It will be held as part of the activities lined-up for the city’s charter anniversary.*HLG
