Led by Mark Celestial, who finished with 16 points, Glitter scored a convincing 89-66 victory over Strollers of Batch 2001, while Akasya Grill  of Batch 2005 tamed Amazing 1991 with an 81- 73 win behind the exploits of Rosu Banzuela.

BBC cruised to a 79-63 triumph over 4D of Batch 1992, with Raul Javelosa and Paolo Avecilla contributing 14 points each. South Gate Inn of Batch 1994-95, on the other hand, handed the Strollers their second defeat, 88-80, behind JG Villaceran’s game-high 24 points.

Caligdong scores as Azkals loses,
1-3 in 2nd tune-up match vs. Bahrain U23

For the second time, the Philippines’ Azkals went down against Bahrain’s Under-23 Olympic squad, 1-3, but the loss gave the team the experience they need as they prepare for Saturday’s first leg against Kuwait in the second round of the 2014 World Cup Qualifier at the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium, Hawalli in Kuwait.

Once again, Ilonggo Emelio “Chieffy” Caligdong played hero for the Azkals as he headed home a cross from Manuel Ott a minute before halftime.

With thousands of the Filipino community in Bahrain once again turning up to see the Azkals play, the national team engaged their hosts to a highly physical game that saw three yellow cards issued for both sides.
