Tex pal linked to killing
BY ADRIAN NEMES III

A prawn farm worker was apprehended by Station 7 policemen at about 11 a.m. yesterday at his residence in Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, barely two weeks after he allegedly killed his text pal and threw the victim’s body in a river in the barangay.

Suspect Jee-Arr Mendoza, 20, of Purok San Jose in Brgy. Alijis in Bacolod was presented to Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz and deputy director Supt. Santiago Rapiz yesterday.

Mendoza identified the victim as Jorospe Alimon, about 50 years old, of Brgy. Sum-ag, Bacolod.

Roel Belano, 36, of Purok Roadside told the police that he was fishing at the river bank at about 8 a.m. on June 29 when he saw the body of Alimon floating at the Magsungay River in Purok Roadside in Brgy. Alijis and immediately reported it to purok chairman Myrna Belardo, Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue had earlier said.

Alimon succumbed to at least 32 stab wounds and might have been already dead whenhe was thrown into the river, Pangue also said.

Mendoza said he started to exchange text messages with Alimon on June 25 and they agreed to meet on June 28 at his house, where they had drinks.

He said that when they were already intoxicated, Alimon allegedly made sexual advances on him causing him to stab Alimon with a buckle knife to hide the crime, he threw the victim’s body into the river.

Policemen recovered Alimon’s motorcycle from the house of Mendoza’s friend in Brgy. Aliijis, while two cellular phones, a buckle knife and an improvised firearm were seized from Mendoza during his arrest, police records showed.

Pangue said a concerned citizen tipped them and that led to the arrest of Mendoza, who admitted the crime. Murder charges will be filed against Mendoza, who is now detained at Police Station 7.*APN
