Negros Occidental Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado yesterday said the first batch of uniforms of the Capitol employees will be delivered before the end of this month.
Originally there were supposed to be two suppliers of the uniforms – one who would make three sets per employee, and another who was supposed to make one set, Salado said.
However, Moriah Apparel, the one who was supposed to make three sets of uniforms per employee raised her price so we asked the other supplier, Sofia Fashion House of Manila, to make all four, which is the reason for the delay, Salado said.
But he assured that the first batch of uniforms will be released before the end of this month.
Salado denied allegations that someone related to him was the supplier.
Capitol employees, who asked not to be identified, Monday said they were supposed to have been given a clothing allowance of P4,000 in January yet, but only P1,500 was released.
They were told the rest of the amount would be released through the Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees to be paid to a supplier for the making of their uniforms.
Their measurements were taken sometime in March and April, but until now no uniforms have been produced, they said.
The employees said the unreleased amount to them was about P6 million and they want to know if it is true, that the supplier of the uniforms is really the wife of a ranking non-elected official at the Capitol.
Salado said the reason why the employees’ uniforms are being made together is to ensure that the same cloth and design is followed for uniformity.*CPG
