Capitol IRA cut by P87M
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Negros Occidental provincial government is faced with an P87 million drop in its Internal Revenue Allotment share in 2012, Provincial Budget Officer Percival Salado said yesterday.

Salado said the cut in the Capitol’s IRA is due to the low nationwide tax collection in 2009 that will affect LGUs nationwide next year.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said the drop in the IRA collections in 2009 is by 4.86 percent.

The IRA funds come from the Bureau of Internal Revenue collection, a drop in its collections will be felt by all local governments, the governor said.

Salado said the P87 million IRA drop will mean a cut in some projects in Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, the governor said PAG-ASA is setting up weather monitoring stations in Sagay, San Carlos and Kabankalan cities.*CPG
