Aboitiz nets P10.6B in
first half? earnings

Net income of Aboitiz Power Corp. dropped to P10.6 billion in the first half, down 17 percent from the same period in 2010.

APC disclosed to the Philippine Stock Exchange that during the first half, the company benefited from non-recurring and one-off gains, including a non-recurring gain of P143 million.

This was due to the revaluation of consolidated dollar-denominated loans and placements and P527 million in one-off gains, net of tax.

Farmers, fisher
folk get cash aid

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Region VI, through the Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development, distributed cash assistance to 162 agricultural and fisher folks of Bacolod City, yesterday at the Government Center lobby, a press release from the city said.

Councilor Em Ang, chair of the Sanggunian Committee on Social Services, assisted in the distribution of the cash assistance.

The 162 beneficiaries were from barangays Banago, Singcang-Airport, Sum-ag, Alangilan, Punta Taytay, 1, 10 and 12.

Tourism office accepting
applications for confab

Bacolod City tourism officer Imogene Kana-an yesterday said that they are now accepting participants from Bacolod to join the upcoming Meeting Incentives Convention and Exhibition Conference slated next month in Cebu City.

Kana-an said the conference organized by the Department of Tourism and Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation will run from August 10 to 13 at the Cebu International Convention Center.

The MICECON will provide a platform to integrate and strengthen all sectors involved in the Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, Exhibitions and Events into one cohesive, comprehensive educational program, the MICECON website showed yesterday.
