Bacolod Community Environment and Natural Resources Officer Joan Gerangaya yesterday warned that catching, trading and transport of geckos (tukos) are illegal under the Philippine Wildlife Act.

Violation of Republic Act No. 9147 carries penalties of imprisonment along with fines commensurate to the gravity of the offense, he said.

Manta hits Ceneco official,
says he is misleading public

BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Manta Energy Inc. president Alberto Guanzon yesterday accused Central Negros Electric Cooperative general manager Sulpicio Lagarde Jr. of misleading the public with his recent statements on the MEI-CENECO power supply contract now awaiting approval by the Energy Regulatory Commission.

He said they have an enforceable contract signed with then CENECO president Vicente Sabornay in 2009, which covers 22 megawatt for CENECO’s intermediate load, not 46 MW as Lagarde claimed.

Lagarde said Manta should convince ERC that they have a contract with CENECO since they do not have one. moremoremore
