WNU, WOF sign pact

A memorandum of agreement was signed Wednesday between West Negros University and the World of Fun at the WNU President’s Office, in Bacolod City, a press release from the school said.

WOF, represented by its general manager, Antonio Abaya Jr. donated two amusement machines to WNU College of Engineering to be used for laboratory and other practical applications.

The machines were received by University president, Dr. Oscar Suarez, and Dioscoro Marañon, dean of the College of Engineering.

WNU can also refer students to WOF for apprenticeship or on-the-job training programs, the press release said.

Oliver Cleofe, WOF area manager witnessed the signing of MOA, and also present were Paolo Petaver and Susan Tagle, QOF-HR director, the press release said.*

Public teachers obtain ELP

Twenty public school teachers from the Division of San Carlos City comprised the first batch to complete the training course on English Language Proficiency at the Negros Occidental Language and Information Technology Center recently, a Capitol press release said.

The ELP for Public School Teachers is one of the priority programs under the Negros First Development Agenda of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Vice Gov. Genaro Alvarez Jr., aimed at upgrading the English communication skills of the public school teachers in the province.

NOLITC Vocational School Administrator Dr. Edmund Calaor said the training is open to all public schools divisions and is offered free by the provincial government, the press release said.

Medical mission held

Residents of Barangay 16, Bacolod City recently availed of free consultation and medicines during a medical mission conducted by the Duenas Family Reunion Group, in coordination with the office of Councilor Em Ang and the Bacolod City Host Lions Clubs.

Free adult and pediatric consultation, hypertension screening and distribution of free medicines were given to the residents, a press release from the organizers said.

Volunteer doctors and medical staff led by Antipolo City Health Officer, Dr. Antonio Reillo, Jr., Dr. Grace Reillo and nurse Primrose Sotocinal, from Edmonton, Canada, provided free consultations and treatment.

Barangay captain Junjun Ligaya and officials, together and barangay health workers assisted during the medical mission, the press release said.

Vice Mayor’s League
extends assistance

The Vice Mayor’s League of the Philippines-Negros Occidental Chapter headed by Bacolod City Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson conducted two medical missions in E.B. Magalona and Hinobaan, Negros Occidental, recently, a press release from the group said.

The activity, which is part of the continuing efforts of the group to extend assistance to financially depressed constituents was welcomed in the two towns, especially in E.B. Magalona, which was hit by floods recently. Vice Mayor Rex Depasucat was the proponent of the humanitarian efforts, the press release said.

Residents of Hinobaan also benefited from the mission VMLP-NOC mission, in coordination with the Office of the Vice Governor, the Eleuterio Decena Memorial Hospital and the municipal government, the press release added.*
