Western Visayas families
have lower incomes: NSO

Families in Western Visayas earn less  compared to other families in other regions in the Visayas, according to the National Statistics Office 6.

The result of the 2009 Family Income and Expenditure Survey showed that families in Region 6 earned an average annual income of only P159,000 as compared to families in Central Visayas who are earning P184,000 and Eastern Visayas, P160,000.

The annual average income of Filipino families nationwide is P206,000.

The FIES is a nationwide survey of households conducted every three years. It is the main source of data on family income and expenditure.

FIES also provides data that are needed in the different aspects of the country’s economic conditions and a basic source of information on household consumption of commodities.

Information for measurement of Human Development Index, poverty, and levels and patterns of living of different sections of the population can also be accessed through FIES.*PIA
