More than 200 students from colleges and universities in Dumaguete City attended the 3rd Financial Expo 2011 conducted by the Financial Consumers Affairs Group of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas recently at the Negros Oriental Convention Center.
Maria Belinda Caraan, Director of the Financial Consumer Affairs Group, thanked the colleges and universities in Dumaguete for their overwhelming support, with the presence also of college professors and deans.
The Financial Expo is a component program of the integrated Economic and Financial Learning Program of the BSP and part of the campaign to expand the financial education advocacy.
Caraan said mini-sessions conducted discussed the Philippine Financial System, consumer protection, personal finance, currency concerns and financial products.
The personal finance booth highlights the benefits of saving early and the value of planning for retirement and other future plans.
She said they chose the graduating college students taking financial and economics related courses, so that they will be ready when they join the financial working force of the country.*MA
