celebrates 8th anniversary
The Museo Sang Bata Sa Negros in Sagay City celebrated its eighth anniversary Saturday, Lilibeth Cordova, museum director. said.
The day of recognition and appreciation of all the efforts and support of the many volunteers, now part of the Museo family, started with a program, followed by the distribution of school supplies and oral health packs to 160 children from the coastal community beside the Museo.
Sonia Sarrosa, president of the Museo Foundation, delivered an inspiring message to the children and parents of the coastal community.
Nineteen awardees, mostly teachers from local schools who have spent time and effort by working Saturdays, after school hours, and even Sundays, teaching the children around the Museo area, to dance, sing, do crafts, etc., were given plaques of appreciation, Cordova said.
The awardees were Nelly Landingin, Edmund Amoncio, Ronald Villar, Helen Cutillar, Jose Roberto Togle, Jose Aragon, Rema Aguirre, Rose Mermida, Gina Radan, Alexander Lamason, Frank Buenafe, Emerly Hudierrez, Wilyn Montaño, Josette Balandra, Soledad Plana, Gillie Sumpio, Febe Diocson, Emy Dipon, and Lyn Gaca.*

Cash assistance distributed
The municipality of E.B. Magalona in Negros Occidental yesterday marked the 113th Independence day celebration by distributing cash assistance to the “Iskolar ng Bayan” and school supplies to the “poorest among the poor” students in its schools.
Mayor David Albert Lacson, assisted by Board Member Thea Marie Dino, school officials and members of the Sangguniang Bayan of EB. Magalona, distributed P2,000 each to high school honor students, and P1,000 for elementary honor students.
This distribution of cash to honor in EB. Magalona is an annual activity of Lacson, since he became town mayor in 2007.
Lacson also distributed school supplies to the “poorest among the poor” students and cash assistance to some members of the Tricycle Operators and Driver’s Association of the town.*GPB

Book launching
set at USLS
Two students from the University of St. La Salle in Bacolod City will launch their book “Recollections” during the opening of the Centennial Memorabilla Shop on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at USLS.
The authors are medicine student Frederick Ivan Ting and law student Nea Cecille Quiachon, a press release from USLS said.
Ting and Quiachon’s book is published by Lulu, an international publishing company in North Carolina, USA, the press release said.*
