6 boxes of tipsters
confiscated in raid

Six boxes of tipsters with the codename “Speed” were recovered in Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental, during raid on illegal gambling conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Negros Occidental, at about 7 p.m. Friday.

CIDG provincial head Chief Insp. Cesar Paday-os said yesterday that armed with a search warrant issued by La Carlota City Regional Trial Court Branch 63 Judge Francisco Rodriguez, the CIDG operatives swooped down on the residence of Hernando Duma, “alias Nandind”, in Sitio Linao, Brgy Bato, Hinigaran.

Paday-os said Duma was not around during the raid, and only Ronnel Subingsubing , “alias Oning”, 24 , Brgy Day-as in Cebu City and Armando Angcona Jr “ alias Jay-r” , 23 , of Brgy. Odiong in Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental were arrested.

Aside from the tipsters, operatives seized a computer Central Processing Unit, a keyboard, a computer monitor, computer printer, two speakers, a risograph machine, old tipsters of speed, three calculators, two staplers, four ballpens, two cellular phones and P690 in cash from the residence of Duma, during the raid, police records showed.

The CIDG also seized three Rusi motorcycles, police records also showed.

Meanwhile, three men who are allegedly into illegal operations of jai-alai were arrested in Bacolod City Saturday.

Police records yesterday identified them as Virgilio Batigue, 67, of Brgy. 40, Manuel Frias, 19, of Purok Katilingban in Brgy. 39, and Rudion Cervales, 41, of Galo-Gasataya street all in Bacolod City.

Cervales was apprehended at about 7:40 p.m. while allegedly on the act of soliciting bets for jai alai at Galo-Gasataya Street. The police seized two tipsters with the codename “Jai alai de Manila”, betting stubs with number combination, a ballpen, and P20 in bet money from Cervales.

A ballpen, a betting stub and seven tipsters with the codenamne “Octagon” were also seized from Frias when he was apprehended in Purok Katilingban at about 8:45 p.m.

Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Genotleo, also reported the arrest of Bantigue at about 9:15 p.m. in Brgy. 40 and from they confiscated Meridien Vista tally sheets and P111 in bet money.*APN

Robber nabbed

A suspected robber was apprehended in a follow-up operation by Station 6 policemen at about 4 a.m. Saturday, at Lopez-Jaena Street, Bacolod City.

Station 6 deputy chief, Insp. Charles Gever, identified the suspect as William Alit, 20, of Rizal-Lopez Jaena streets in Brgy. 27, Bacolod.

Gever said the apprehension was made on the complaints of Ivan Saligumba, 24, of Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod, who claimed that Alit threatened him with an ice pick and declared a hold-up earlier Saturday.

He said Alit took his bag with two cellular phones valued at P5,000, a sweater, a polo shirt, and P140 in cash.

Saligumba’s things and an ice pick were recovered from Alit during his arrest, police records showed.

Gever said Alit is also linked to the robbery of a resident of Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental last week, and that, he has other robbery cases in other areas in Bacolod.

He is inviting robbery hold-up victims to visit their police station so they could see if Alit was the one who robbed them and file charges against him.*APN
