Regalado, who is the project coordinator, along with Porferio Montesclaros, director of the Mactan Export Processing Zone Chamber of Exporters and Manufacturers, and Teddy Segura, president and chief executive officer of Nexus Philippines, this week met with Gov. DOH taking action
vs. counterfeit meds

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The Department of Health is putting up an electronic monitoring system in pharmacies to detect if they are purchasing medicines from unauthorized dealers, Delia Tarrosa, chief of the Licensing, Regulations and Enforcement Division of the Department of Health in Region 6, said yesterday.

Tarrosa, however, admitted that it is indeed difficult to identify the counterfeit medicines from the authentic ones.

She said that even the DOH cannot identify counterfeit medicines at first glance and needs to scrutinize or subject them to laboratory tests to verify their authenticity.moremoremore

Capitol nearly calls
off donation of jail

BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology yesterday agreed to an amended memorandum of agreement with the Negros Occidental provincial government on its take-over of the management of the new Negros Occidental jail in Tabunan, Bago City after the Capitol threatened to call off the donation of the facility.

The turnover of the more than P100 million new jail to the BJMP officials is set on Tuesday morning.

Jose Ma. Valencia, chief of staff of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Provincial Legal Officer, said the BJMP lawyers yesterday morning said they were objecting to some sections of the amended MOA and he informed them that the Capitol was standing pat on its position.moremoremore
