The muscovado stock of La Castellana town was sold out in the recent trade fair held in Metro Manila at the Innovation for Business Expo of the Department of Science and Technology, Gerard Tupas, marketing officer of the Negros Occidental Technology and Livelihood Development Center, said yesterday.
Tupas said the event was a good exposure for the local producers and they were surprised by such positive response from the buyers in Manila.
The peanuts of San Carlos City, turmeric of Mabinay town, bagoong of Pontevedra town, and the bags of Calatrava town also earned well, he also said. 


Awards up for
farmers, fisher folk
The Negros Occidental provincial government will give 17 awards at the Pasidungog sa mga Manguguma kag Mangigisda 2011 during the Panaad Festival on April.
Pasidungog Chairperson Dina Genzola said yesterday that the major categories are the Farmer of the Year, Fisherman of the Year, Best Organic Village Project, and Best Managed Office of the Provincial Agriculturist Irrigation Project.
The Farmer of the Year must possess technical knowledge of his farm practices and farming systems, can use indigenous and local resources, must be profitable and productive, and must have contributed social impact to the community.


SM sale
starts tomorrow
SM City Bacolod will hold its mallwide three-day sale tomorrow until Sunday, a press release from the mall said.
Different discounted goods will be available as the annual sale focuses on fun and excitement with sale prizes, raffle prizes and other events, the press release said.
The sale will kick off with a motorcade participated in by mall tenants and sponsors at 10 a.m. tomorrow around the major streets of Bacolod.
