PDEA apprehends
3 in drug buy-bust

Three men were arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in a buy-bust operation at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday in Brgy. Banago, Bacolod City.

Arrested were Gary Taton, Nelson de Joseph, and Noel Firmiza, all of Puno Banago, PDEA Regional Plans and Operations chief, Intelligence Officer 3 Cerilo Baluma, said yesterday.

Baluma said the three were arrested after one of them handed a sachet of suspected shabu to one of their agents, who acted as poseur-buyer, in exchange for P500.

He added that they conducted test-buy operations before the suspects were arrested yesterday, after they received complaints from concerned citizens that the illegal drug trade is rampant in the area.

Two small elongated sachets of suspected shabu, a cellular phone, and P1,500 in cash were recovered from the suspects during their arrest, PDEA records showed.

Investigation also showed that Taton is in the top 20 most wanted drug personalities in Bacolod City, Baluma told the DAILY STAR.

Meanwhile, a drug pusher evaded arrest when the PDEA agents were about to arrest her in Purok Sibucao, in Brgy. Banago at about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

Baluma identified the suspect, who evaded arrest, as Sario Aliguin of Purok Sibucao, who he claimed is number 15 in their watchlist.

Two small heat-sealed sachets of suspected shabu, three heat-sealed elongated sachets of the banned substance, four disposable lighters, a tooter, a pair of scissors and P500 in mark money were recovered from Aliguin’s residence during the drug-bust.

Baluma said that drug pushers already shifted their operations outside barangays 1, 2, 22 and 26, which were earlier sealed-off by the police from illegal drugs.*APN

Man nabbed for loose gun

A Talisay resident was arrested by Station 2 policemen for alleged possession of an improvised firearm at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Brgy. 10, Bacolod City.

Arrested was Noel Parcon, 25, of Purok Tumpok in Brgy. Zone 15, Talisay City, Negros Occidental, Station 2 commander, Chief Insp. Noel Polines, said yesterday.

Polines said Parcon was apprehended by Police Officer 2 Alexander Alegora on a complaint from a concerned citizen that he was allegedly carrying a firearm.

Alegora seized a pen gun with a live hallow point ammunition of a .38 caliber revolver and an empty shell of the same caliber from Parcon when he was arrested, police records showed.

Parcon told the police that the gun is not his and he only brought it to Brgy. 10, so the trigger device could be installed. He claimed that his friends from Brgy. Banago, whose names he did not disclose, asked him to bring the gun to a welder for repair.

The gun will be sent to the crime laboratory at the Police Regional Office-6 headquarters, where it will  undergo a ballistic test in preparation for the filing of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition charges against Parcon.*APN
